Labyrinth

Crystal Creek Labyrinth

The Labyrinth is a spiritual tool, designed to awaken in us a deep rhythm that unites us to ourselves and the God who  created us.  Walking a Labyrinth is a gift we give to ourselves, leading to discovery, insight, peacefulness, connectedness and well being.

Our walking meditation labyrinth is patterned after the Chartres Labyrinth laid in the floor of the

Chartres Cathedral in France around 1220.

Labyrinth

The Labyrinth has been a healing symbol to all walks of humanity for over 3,500 years. It is non-denominational. People of all faiths & those longing to reconnect to faith may walk the Labyrinth. It is a symbol of our passage through time and experience. Walking the Labyrinth is more about the journey than the destination; about joining body, mind and spirit.

Based on a circle, the universal symbol for unity and wholeness, the Labyrinth is a pattern with a purpose. The Labyrinth has only one path which winds throughout and becomes a mirror to reflect the journey of life; it may touch our sorrows, and release our joys. So walk it with an open mind and an open heart.

There are as many different ways to walk the Labyrinth as there are individuals. The journey is different for everyone, as is life, for we each bring our differences to the labyrinth. We bring our uniqueness and often depart with a greater sense of oneness and unity. So, walk as you are, with the understanding that you can access the truth in your soul.

The Labyrinth is a path for prayer and meditation.  The Labyrinth is a teacher.  There is no right or wrong way to walk, but the two common ways of walking are:  silence and image.

The Way of Silence

In choosing the way of silence...pause, take a few moments to quiet yourself and take deep breathes not focusing on anything in particular, clearing oneself...trusting you will receive whatever message is for your highest good.

* BECOME AWARE OF INNER THOUGHTS

* REFLECT ON WHERE YOU ARE IN LIFE

The Way of Image

The way of image might be done by saying a prayer or word over and over to yourself.  Be open to your heart and mind.  Pay attention to your thoughts as they rise and then let them go.

* WALK SILENTLY REPEATING A THOUGHT

* PRAISE YOUR WAY THROUGH

* WALK AWARE OF GOD'S PRESENCE

* REQUEST SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE

* THANK GOD FOR SOME BLESSING AT EACH TURN

  OF THE LABYRINTH

* WALK TO ENJOY THE MOMENT

The walk to the center may be a quieting of the mind...calming yourself, releasing all tension and conscious thoughts...opening yourself to receiving an answer or releasing what ever you need.

After you reach the center, you may allow your attention to stay there for awhile, becoming aware of what is inside you...whatever you are feeling in your heart...remain in the center for as long as you wish.

The walk back out from the center can be seen as returning to one's life...with a new approach toward whatever question or issue you brought into the Labyrinth...feeling a sense of empowerment from the experience.

However you choose to walk the Labyrinth, just be open to the experience and allow the energies of healing and inner peace into your being.
