Rates & Policies
Nestled on the shore of our small lake, and framed by
dogwood and redbud trees, the Lakeside Log Cabin is the
newest addition to our "lodging
adventures". As with many of our other areas,
we have incorporated the new with the old, the modern
with the sense and feel of history from pioneers of the
Ozark past. The logs used in the cabin came
from an original log cabin that was moved several times, with its
last resting place being the Shannon County courthouse lawn for many
years. It deteriorated there until it was unrepairable, at
which time the County Court let us salvage the logs, as they knew we
would preserve them as much as possible, and keep the history of the
cabin alive. [see more of this history at the end of the page}
The Lakeside Log Cabin is 12' by 18', with a half loft
for the young at heart. It features all original
Ozark materials, such as tongue and groove pine
flooring, rough cut pine siding, and a ceiling of old
metal roofing from days gone by. We have added air
conditioning, a small microwave, coffee pot, and
refrigerator. The cabin can sleep up to four
adults on the queen bed and the fold out double
futon. The loft area is also available for use,
but you will need to bring your own bedding for
it. We provide sheets, pillows, and blankets for
the other two beds. Restrooms and showers are
available at the Main Hall.
The cabin also features a large porch overlooking the
lake, along with a picnic table and fire pit area.
The porch is a perfect place to sit a spell, put up your
feet and let the peace and harmony of nature flow thru
you!

.
LAKESIDE LOG CABIN HISTORY
The logs in the Lakeside
Log Cabin came from two different places in Shannon County, and were
first given new life at the site of the old Jone's store on Highway
106 near the present day grade school One source of the logs
was an old cabin and corn crib on the Charlie Burrus place on Bay
Creek, by the Jacks Fork River. The other source was a log
cabin off of D Highway by town of Ink, the old Tom Stevens
place. Both these cabins were the birth places of several of
the areas ancestors. Pug and Frank Jones operated the store,
and Frank, Fodder Jones, and Jerry Carr assembled the log cabin on
the store property in the 1960's. After the store was closed
in the 1970's, the cabin was donated to the town of Eminence and
moved to the courthouse lawn to be used by the Chamber of Commerce
as an information center. Here it resided for many years, but
lack of upkeep led to the un-repairable deterioration of the cabin,
at which time the County Court let us salvage the logs, as they knew
we would preserve them as much as possible, and keep the history of
the cabin alive We dismantled the cabin in 2010, and over a
period of the next two years gave it it's new home on Crystal Creek
Ranch..
